Signs you need this repair
- The latch won't catch, or you have to lift the door to lock it
- The lock lever is loose, broken or spins freely
- The door can be pulled open while "locked"
- Keys no longer work, or you've moved in and want the lock changed
- You'd like an extra security lock for a ground-floor door
Your sliding glass door is often the largest opening in your home, and on many Central Florida houses and condos it opens right onto a pool deck, lanai or ground-floor patio. If it won’t latch reliably, it’s a real security problem.
Why sliding door locks stop working
- The panel has dropped. When rollers wear down, the door sinks, and the latch hook ends up below the keeper. This is the most common cause, and it’s fixed by replacing or adjusting the rollers, not just the lock.
- The latch mechanism is broken. Internal springs and hooks wear out, and lock levers crack or come loose.
- The keeper is loose or bent. The strike on the frame can shift, especially if the door has been forced.
- Corrosion. Salt air and pool chemicals are hard on lock hardware.
What we do
We install sliding glass patio door locks and repair the ones you have. That includes:
- Replacing broken or worn mortise locks and latches
- Re-aligning the keeper and adjusting the panel so the latch catches cleanly
- Installing keyed locks where you want one
- Adding auxiliary security locks for an extra layer of protection
Because we also handle rollers and tracks, we fix the underlying cause rather than just swapping the lock.
For homeowners, tenants and property managers
We work directly with homeowners and with apartment and condominium management companies to provide sliding door repair for tenants. Day, night and weekend appointments are available at no extra charge.
Lock installation & repair: common questions
Why won't my sliding door lock anymore?
Most often the panel has dropped because the rollers are worn, so the latch no longer lines up with the keeper on the frame. Sometimes the latch mechanism itself is broken. We check both, because replacing the lock won't help if the door is sitting too low.
Can you add a second lock to my patio door?
Yes. We install sliding glass patio door locks, including auxiliary security locks that add a second point of protection. That's especially useful on ground-floor doors and rentals.
Do you work with landlords and property managers on lock changes?
Yes. We work with apartment and condominium management companies to repair and replace sliding door locks for tenants, and can schedule several units at once.
